Postfix & Greylisting Problem

SebastianS

New Pleskian
Hi all,

i've got a Problem with Greylisting, it didn't work correctly.

Take a look at my mail log :
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk greylisting filter[13875]: Starting greylisting filter...
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk before-queue[13870]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk before-queue[13870]: call_handlers: DEFER during call '/opt/psa/handlers/info/05-grey-n9ErIp/executable' handler
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk before-queue[13870]: call_handlers: stop call handlers from dir '/opt/psa/handlers/before-queue/global'
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk before-remote[13872]: Lost connection
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk before-remote[13872]: Some error occured
Jul 22 16:23:28 plesk postfix/spawn[13871]: warning: command /usr/lib/plesk-9.0/postfix-queue exit status 255

This happens only if an email adress is unkown. The second try is no Problem. But i think greylisting didn't work perfekt.

Anybody who could help me ?

Thanks

As far as I know this is how greylisting supposed to work.

"MTA using greylisting will "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize." (c) Wiki

Log File?

Where is the log file for Greylisting?

Do we have to do this?

root@centralmail:# tail -f /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog | grep handlers_stderr

which gives:

Dec 3 09:44:11 cm qmail-queue-handlers[10999]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:12 cm qmail-queue-handlers[10819]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:13 cm qmail-queue-handlers[11007]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:13 cm qmail-queue-handlers[11054]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:13 cm qmail-queue-handlers[10622]: handlers_stderr: SKIP
Dec 3 09:44:13 cm qmail-queue-handlers[10622]: handlers_stderr: PASS
Dec 3 09:44:13 cm qmail-queue-handlers[10683]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:16 cm qmail-queue-handlers[10711]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:16 cm qmail-queue-handlers[11122]: handlers_stderr: DEFER
Dec 3 09:44:16 cm qmail-local-handlers[10719]: handlers_stderr: PASS
Dec 3 09:44:16 cm qmail-queue-handlers[11167]: handlers_stderr: SKIP
Dec 3 09:44:16 cm qmail-queue-handlers[11167]: handlers_stderr: SKIP

What is SKIP and can we see why SKIP is happening?

Is SKIP maybe Whitelist or Domain Specific settings?

Greylisting operation is logged only in /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog
SKIP mean that message in the whitelist or GL interval is ended. SKIP the same as PASS but more economical on resources.

before-remote Some error occured

the same. Also notice the disparity in the log hour, some process says 14:37 while other says 16:37...

I have plesk 9.3 and it presents lot of errors with postfix, it is unusable.

So, what about the "Jan 15 14:37:54 panel before-remote[26839]: Some error occured" line in the logs ? When I try to send some email the email client fails with: "mail server temporary failed"

I would really appreaciate a definitive solution, Plesk 9.3.0 is unusable with respect email as it was in previous release 9.2.x

Please, I need a fix urgently.

Did anyone find a solution for this? I'm experancing delays in recieving mail due to the above problem.

It is a error.

I have A LOT of:

Each process is created each time i get the errors posted above in maillog, these process consumes a lot of ram i can't tell you how many troubles i have with my users because of this...

This only happens with plesk 9.3, i have many VE with plesk 9.2.x and this is not happening, of course is a bug in your greylist system..

How can i disable this greaylist feature?

It's necesary at all? we can use postgreylist anyway...

please fix it.

regards
